We have had problems with the present carrier for text messages, so a new one is being used. To sign up, text LWWEMC to 41411 and you will be set up. Those of you that have already signed up will be receiving an email with the same instructions. The twitter sign up remains the same as before. Hopefully this will be the last bump in the road!

Update on the Emergency Notification System

For those of you that have signed up for the notification system beta test, you have probably noticed you’re getting 2 messages each time. We’re working with the SMS service to get this fixed. Otherwise things are working well.

CERT Training is here!

We have finalized the dates for CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) training.
Richard Weires, a highly experienced EMT, and his assistants have graciously volunteered to provide CERT training for interested residents of Lake Wildwood.
This is a 24 hour course and will be split over 3 Saturdays, June 12, 19 and 26 from 9 AM to 6 PM at the clubhouse, with an hour for lunch.

This is a valuable course and we are fortunate, thanks in large part to LWW board member Wes Patton’s efforts, to be able to get it at no cost.

This is serious training and we would ask that you commit to all three Saturdays.

New emergency and spillway closing notification system is in beta testing!

The Emergency Management Committee with the cooperation and assistance of Lake Wildwood Security is now beta testing a notification system for emergencies and spillway/gate closings. The intent is to give residents timely notice of spillway and gate closings as well as any other emergency notifications.There will be 2 main methods: A text message delivered to your cell phone and a tweet on twitter.com. I will add an email option if there is enough interest, but the cell phone option will be the fastest way to get notified.

If you would like to sign up for the text message method, send an email to: alerts@abetterwildwood.org with your cell phone number. We need some volunteers to make sure it works with all the cell phone carriers, plus we’re tired of texting to ourselves! I will be doing a weekly test on each Sunday at 3PM, at least until we’re out of beta status.

A warning: If you don’t have texting as part of your cell phone plan, it may cost from 10 to 20 cents per received message. There will not be an excessive amount of messages sent under normal circumstances, but keep that in mind.

Emergency Management Committee Meetings

Committee meetings will be held at the Clubhouse on the 4th Monday of each month, from 7-8 pm.

We usually “continue the meeting” at Buffalo’s afterwards!
